GC Cookies Policy
Full policy
Cookies are small pieces of text sent to your browser by a website you visit. Two cookies are used on the GC platform:
- MoodleSession. You must allow this cookie in your browser to remain logged into GC when browsing the site. When you log out or close the browser, this cookie is destroyed (in your browser and on the server).
- MOODLEID or similar. This just remembers your username in the browser. This means that when you return to this site, the username field on the login page is already filled in for you. It is safe to refuse this cookie - you will just have to retype your username each time you log in.
Summary
GC Privacy Notice
Full policy
This GC Privacy Notice tells you what information we keep about Students and Staff, so that you can understand what will happen to your personal data, and what rights you have. If you are over 13 years old, you may have the right to make requests about your own data; for those under 13, your parents will make these decisions for you.
Who processes your information?
Nord Anglia Education (NAE) is responsible for processing your information on GC. We may also have third-party tools that will process your information.
Our central Compliance Team ensures that all your information is kept safe and available.
Why do we collect your data?
We need to keep information about our Students and Staff to make sure your time on GC runs properly and you can enjoy the activities and events on offer. To do this, GC must identify every individual person who accesses the platform.
The purposes of processing your personal data
When you login into GC, the platform will gather your full name, username, email address and the IP address of your computer or device.
It will do this to allow you to use the platform (authenticate) and manage and track your experience while logged in (your digital footprint).
By knowing who you are, GC can manage the permissions for what you can see and cannot see. For example, there may be some areas of GC that are not relevant to you and so are blocked.
The GC Programme uses the GC platform to offer you competitions activities such as The Writers Competition and activities drawn from our collaborations with MIT, Julliard and UNICEF.
Our third-party partners
To enhance the GC Programme, we use several external tools. These are integrated into the GC platform.
- Padlet Boards allow you to submit pictures, text and videos in our competitions and comment on the work of other students.
- Vimeo is a streaming service that hosts many of the videos that are available in GC.
We have agreements in place with these partners to ensure any of your information that is transferred while using the tools is safe and secure.
Who else might see the data we keep on you?
We make sure only certain people can see your information on GC. These are the teams that run the platform and the GC Programme.
For some competitions, external uses such as judges will see your information so they can choose the winners.
Our responsibilities and your rights
- We don’t keep your information forever – only for as long as we need to.
- Your personal information belongs to you – and we are only able to use it when we need to, to look after you on GC.
- You and your parents are allowed to make decisions, in many cases, about what information we are able to use and how we use that information.
- If we have got some of your information wrong, such as a spelling mistake or because something has changed, then you can let us know by contacting us by using the Global Campus email available on the platform.
- If you would like us to stop using or remembering a piece of information about you, you can ask us to delete it, but we may not be able to. Sometimes, using your information is so important that we would not be able to do our job without it. We will discuss this with your parents.
Your responsibilities
When you use GC and join our activities, you agree to follow our rules:
- Be kind, respectful, and helpful to others.
- Read the activity instructions carefully so you understand how to take part.
- Try your best in the activities so you can share your best work.
- Make sure the work you post is your own.
- Post pictures, work, and comments that are okay for everyone to see.
- Use English, unless the activity asks you to use a different language.
- Keep your personal information safe.
- Tell an adult if you see anything that doesn’t seem safe or doesn’t follow the rules.
We will speak to your school and your Principal, and your parents will be told, if your work, your comments or your behaviour is:
- Racist: Treating someone unfairly or being mean to them just because of the colour of their skin or where they come from.
- Bullying: Hurting someone’s feelings or body on purpose, over and over, to make them feel bad or scared.
- Discrimination: Treating someone unfairly because of something about them, like their skin colour, what they believe, or if they’re a boy or girl.
- Derogatory: Using mean or hurtful words to make someone feel bad about who they are.
- Harassment: Bothering someone again and again in a way that makes them feel upset, scared, or uncomfortable.
- Inciting violence: Saying things to try to get others to hurt people or do dangerous things.
- Political: Talking about problems with government, leaders, or which countries are having arguments.
Complaints
If you are not happy with the way information about you is being used, please contact the GC Team by using the Global Campus email available on the platform.
